Measuring approximately 1.6 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches (41 x 48 x 15 mm), the watch has a lug size of 20mm and a tang buckle clasp. It is water-resistant up to 200 meters (20 Bar), making it suitable for diving and other water-based activities.
Powering the Vostok Diving Watch is an automatic VOSTOK self-winding movement with 32 ruby jewels. This movement requires no manual winding, but the watch can still be wound with the winding stem if it has not been worn for some time. When fully wound, the watch can run for at least 31 hours.
The watch features an anti-shock (shock-resistant) balance, a central second hand, and a graduated rotated bezel. The hands and dots on the dial are luminous, providing easy reading in low-light conditions.
The Vostok company's story dates back to 1942, when one of the Moscow watch-making plants was evacuated to the town of Chistopol during the war. Initially, the company's output was focused on defense equipment, but after the war, Vostok began producing mechanical wrist watches, which became the company's primary product.
In 1965, Vostok was appointed as the official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union. This year marked the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" ("Commander") watch, which gained immense popularity among military personnel and civilians alike, thanks to its high precision, reliability, and durability.
The success of the military watches led Vostok to develop their next special timepiece, the "Amphibian." This impressive stainless-steel watch was capable of withstanding depths of up to 2000 meters, making it a true "wrist submarine."
